Our Work with 10-14 year olds.

Our aim is to bring Glory to God by enjoying Him forever. To do this we want to change the world by making disciples of Christ. In order to achieve this we will try to provide a comprehensive Discipleship-based Youth work which allows young Christians to fluorish as they follow Jesus, and gives them opportunity to reach out to their friends in meaningful ways.

To fulfil this purpose and mission , we will provide for the 10-14 year olds:
A regular invitational Youth Club called Friday Night Live, A six week short course for interested members and enquirers, Vision Club weekly in the High School;
Pathfinders on a Sunday morning including small group Bible study as appropriate, regular Pathfinder Socials, Trips and Activities, A termly, 7 or 8 week Discipleship course for young people who cannot attend on Sundays, An annual Weekend Away together, Annual summer holiday Ventures – Casterton 1; All age Sunday Morning gatherings and Opportunities for service within the church family
We will also provide help in telling others about Jesus and in caring for other Christians

We promise to:
Pray for each young person by name, Care for each young person individually, and welcome and befriend each young person

Activities

“Friday Night Live” 7.30 – 9.30 Friday.
This is an all-action, interactive, entertainment club, with a Bible focus.
The main aim is to hear the message of the Bible in a safe and friendly atmosphere.
We also have a large tuck shop, hot and cold drinks for sale and some of the Youth Club’s favourite games, like Irish Wrestling, Unihoc and Semolina.

“Pathfinders” 10-11.15AM Sunday
This is the flagship of the Youth Work and our main Bible study programme. We gather with the whole Church at 10Am and then begin the teaching programme at about 10.15 in the Annexe. We have a varied curriculum which is aimed so that 11-14 year olds can learn about Jesus from the Bible and know what it means to follow Him. Each term there is an opportunity to respond to the claims of Jesus and put your trust in him. We explore the Bible together in a variety of ways and seek to put our faith in Jesus into practice through various projects.

Socials and trips
Throughout the year we go on a number of trips and meet up about once per month to develop friendships and enjoy one another’s company. We have recently been bowling, had a film night, a sleepover, a pool party and a fireworks evening on October 30 th(All Hallows Eve). We have a film night lined up to go and see the new Narnia film [link to website: Narnia.com] and a bonfire night and various other trips in the new year.
We welcome all Pathfinders and their friends on these trips and usually have an attendance of around 25-30.
Further details of upcoming events to be posted soon.
Our main weekend away is to the Oakes Holiday Centre in Sheffield, where we have a fantastic time. Places are always in short supply to this trip and booking early is advisable. A video is available to view from the most recent weekend away, and plans are in place to book for 2006. [The Oakes web:www.oakes.org.uk]

Vision, Wilmslow High School, 12.45-13.15
An open club in the High School, aiming to establish and develop genuine friendships with young people and share our lives with them in order to communicate the truth of the Bible and the joy of a relationship with God. [wilmslowhigh.cheshire.sch.uk]

Cross Examination/Discovering Jesus
We run two discipleship courses for young people, designed to encourage understanding about Jesus and to give young people the opportunity to explore who Jesus is for themselves, and if they want to, to trust Him with their lives. These run termly as required, and plans are in place for both to run in the Spring.
